The Ministry of Labour and Employment has officially rolled out the EPFO 3.0 digital upgrade, representing a significant technological overhaul of the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO). Key Reforms in EPFO 3.0

The core framework of EPFO 3.0 introduces two major operational changes designed to enhance user convenience and administrative efficiency:

  1. System-Driven Auto-Settlement up to ₹5 Lakh: EPFO has raised the limit for system-driven auto-settlement of claims to ₹5 lakh for accounts with clean, verified KYC (Know Your Customer) details. This auto-settlement mechanism processes and approves claims programmatically without manual officer intervention, reducing the average processing time from weeks to under 72 hours.
  2. Aadhaar-Linked UPI Payouts: Eligible subscribers can now request instant withdrawal credits routed directly to their Aadhaar-linked UPI handles. This bypasses traditional bank account transfer delays and ensures that funds reach the beneficiary's primary bank account in real-time.
  3. QR-Code Cash Access at ATMs: In partnership with leading National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) member banks, EPFO subscribers can now generate dynamic QR codes on their Unified Portal to withdraw approved advance amounts directly at UPI-enabled ATMs, facilitating paperless and cardless cash access.
