India Expresses Deep Concern to Iran Over Ship Attacks in Strait of Hormuz

India has formally communicated its 'deep concern' to Iran regarding recent attacks and incidents affecting maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) summoned the Iranian envoy and emphasized the gravity of the situation, particularly highlighting the safety of Indian-flagged vessels transiting the crucial waterway.

The MEA has also stated that it is actively engaged with Iran and other nations involved to secure the safe passage of Indian ships. This diplomatic engagement underscores India's strategic interest in maintaining freedom of navigation and unimpeded commerce through the Strait of Hormuz, a vital route for its energy imports and trade. The government has also issued advisories for tankers operating in the region.
