The National Capital Region Planning Board (NCRPB) has approved the deployment of ₹5,000 crore to construct four new greenfield urban centers, named "Namo Cities" (or Namo Nodes), under the Regional Plan 2041. The Namo Cities are being designed using the principles of Transit-Oriented Development (TOD). It focuses on the "walk-to-work" concept, promoting pedestrian walkways, cycling tracks, and mixed-use zoning to minimize private vehicle usage and reduce carbon footprints.
2. The Namo Bharat (RRTS) Network
The new cities will be located along the corridors of the Namo Bharat (Regional Rapid Transit System - RRTS). The RRTS is a rail-based, semi-high-speed transit system operating at speeds of up to 160 km/h. Developed by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), the RRTS aims to reduce travel times between regional nodes (such as Delhi, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Alwar, and Panipat) to under an hour, integrating the wider region into a single economic zone.

The NCRPB is a statutory body established under the National Capital Region Planning Board Act, 1985, functioning under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. Its mandate is to coordinate land-use planning, infrastructure development, and environmental policies across the NCR, which covers Delhi and adjoining districts of Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan.
