UPSC Civil Services Main 2026 DAF-I form is live. Submit your cadre preferences and details on upsconline.nic.in before the June 29 deadline.

UPSC Opens DAF-I Portal for Civil Services Main Exam 2026

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has officially launched the portal for submitting the Detailed Application Form-I (DAF-I) for candidates who have qualified in the Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2026. Qualified candidates are required to fill out and submit the DAF-I online. The submission portal became active on June 19, 2026, and the deadline for final submission is June 29, 2026, by 6:00 PM.

Completing the DAF-I is a mandatory requirement for candidates qualified to appear in the Civil Services (Main) Examination, which is scheduled to commence on August 21, 2026. If a candidate fails to submit the DAF-I within the prescribed timeframe, their candidature will be cancelled, and the commission will not issue an e-Admit Card for the Main Examination.

Candidates must log in to the official UPSC application portal at upsconline.nic.in to complete the form. The form requires candidates to provide detailed personal, educational, and service/cadre preferences. The cadre preference is a critical section, and candidates must review the allocation guidelines of the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) before finalizing their choices, as preferences cannot be altered later.

An application fee of Rs. 200 is applicable for general category candidates. Female applicants, along with candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), are exempt from fee payment. All candidates must upload scanned copies of required documents, including certificates for age, education, and category, in the specified format before submitting the form.

Takeaway

Qualified candidates for UPSC Mains 2026 must submit their DAF-I online at upsconline.nic.in by 6:00 PM on June 29, 2026. Do not wait until the last day, as the site frequently slows down. Ensure your cadre preferences are filled after thorough research, as this decides your posting state for your entire career. The next stage is the release of e-admit cards in early August.
